Pop is a huge genre, and it’s always changing. For singers who are trying to learn how to cover pop songs, it can feel overwhelming, confusing, intimidating, and frustrating. If you’ve ever felt this way about the idea of trying to sing pop music, this is where you need to be!

In the POP FOR THE PEOPLE Stylization Deep Dive series, we will go in-depth into one specific element of pop stylization at a time, making it more accessible and practical for singers of all levels. Trade in the overwhelm for a sense of play, exploration, and fun.

Upcoming class topic: ARTICULATION. Renée will teach singers how to stylize pop songs with elements that we all know and use everyday: vowels and consonants! We will listen to examples of how articulation impacts the stylistic results of a vocal performance, and we’ll also talk about the cultural significance of articulation and why this is important in pop music. Then Renée will demonstrate how singers can apply these stylistic choices to their own songs.

Learn from a vocal instructor with over 30 years of experience in pop music. In this workshop, participants will learn a simple and strategic process for listening, learning, and applying pop stylization to song covers, whether it’s for imitation or cultivating your own sound.

The class will cover vocal function, musicianship, stylization tools, and all the other elements that make a pop performance stand out.

GRACE UNDER PRESSURE is an interactive 90-minute workshop on performance anxiety and mental resilience for performing artists. In this 90-minute workshop, Renee will deliver tangible tools and practice ideas for singers to help develop their confidence and ability to perform under pressure, so that every time they go onstage they are free to deliver their best performance.
